Chiefs DT Chris Jones ruled out with groin injury

The Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts are playing a football game right now and injuries are mounting at Arrowhead Stadium

Star defensive tackle Chris Jones rushed to the sideline and the bench after suffering an injury in the second quarter of play. He spoke with the training staff briefly before heading to the locker room. Jones, unlike some of the other injured players this evening, was immediately ruled out for the game with a groin injury.

That’s not a good sign with any sort of injury and it’s certainly not a good sign with the Chiefs already down two starting defensive linemen.

Alex Okafor isn’t active for this game. The Chiefs have ruled out three players before Jones’ injury including DT Xavier Williams, WR Sammy Watkins and LB Anthony Hitchens. If the Chiefs suffer another injury along the defensive line, they may have to start players out of position just to have a healthy rotation for the remainder of the game.

Currently, the Chiefs are rolling with second-year DT Derrick Nnadi and rookie DT Khalen Saunders along the line. They can rotate in Tanoh Kpassagnon if they need to as well, but after that, it’s slim choosing for the Chiefs.

We’ll have an update for you on Jones and the extent of his injury after the game.
