Chiefs DT Chris Jones might miss Week 7 game vs. Broncos

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones suffered a groin injury against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5, putting his status for a Week 7 matchup with the Denver Broncos in doubt.

Earlier this week, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Jones will be considered “week-to-week.” Chiefs defensive tackle Xavier Williams is also injured, making Kansas City extremely thin at the position.

When a player is given a “week-to-week” recovery timeline, they usually don’t return within two games. Given that Kansas City will have a short week leading up to “Thursday Night Football,” it might be safe to assume Jones is unlikely to play on Oct. 17.

The Broncos’ offense would certainly appreciate not having to face Jones. In six career games against Denver, Jones has totaled eight tackles — including two tackles for losses — seven quarterback hits, two sacks and one forced fumble. He has also broken up three passes.

The showdown between the Broncos and Chiefs in Week 7 will be nationally televised on Fox and NFL Network.
