Chiefs DE Alex Okafor questionable to return to with ankle injury

The Kansas City Chiefs have suffered another injury to their defensive line.

Defensive end Alex Okafor injured his ankle during the fourth quarter. He was helped to the trainer’s tent, where they worked on his ankle for a short while. He subsequently went back to the locker room for the Chiefs, presumably to get imaging done on his injured ankle.

Kansas City was already down Frank Clark and Chris Jones heading into this game. They’re extremely thin when it comes to defensive line depth right now. They can hardly afford another injury or they’ll likely have to play some guys out of position along the defensive line.

Right now, Tanoh Kpassagnon and Emmanuel Ogbah are the two healthy defensive ends for the Chiefs. On the defensive interior, you only have Derrick Nnadi, Khalen Saunders and newcomer Mike Pennel.  If they suffer another injury you might see Khalen Saunders or linebacker Reggie Ragland playing some defensive end.

The bleeding has to stop for the Chiefs at some point with these injuries, but that point won’t be this evening. We’ll likely find out more about Okafor’s status following the game but I wouldn’t blame anyone for assuming the worst given Kansas City’s recent injury luck.
