Chad Henne has had a long and inglorious career. He is one of those backup quarterbacks who stick around and around and around.
Henne actually did not see game action in the entire 2015 and ’19 seasons. Somehow, probably because Matt Moore retired, he is Patrick Mahomes’ backup in Kansas City.
And he saw action Sunday in Denver as the Chiefs pulverized the Broncos, 43-16, in snowy, freezing conditions.
So, why write about the former Michigan QB? Because he did something he has not accomplished since 2012 when he started six games for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Henne scored a rushing TD in 2012 among the 64 rushing yard he picked up. The TD came on Dec. 2, 2012, in a loss at Buffalo. It was a one-yard run.
He had not found the end zone on a rushing play … until Sunday.
In the fourth quarter, Henne scored on a one-yard run to make it 43-16.
If you are counting, in 13 seasons, Henne has earned more than $35 million.
He has played in eight games since 2014. Talk about a great work life.
