The Kansas City Chiefs got some good news to start the practice week ahead of Super Bowl LV.
According to Chiefs HC Andy Reid, rookie CB L’Jarius Sneed practiced on Monday and has officially cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol. Sneed suffered a head injury and entered the NFL’s concussion protocol in the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills.
“Sneed is good to go,” Reid said. “He’s been cleared.”
Now, one of the most important young players for Kansas City’s defense will be healthy and available to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.
Sneed’s production over the past four games for the Chiefs has been nothing short of elite, recording 14 total tackles, three sacks, five tackles for loss, five QB hits, three passes defended and an interception. The team will need him to continue playing at that level if they’re to become back-to-back Super Bowl champions. He’ll be tasked with slowing down the likes of Tom Brady and a talented Buccaneers offense.
In addition to Sneed, Reid reported that WR Sammy Watkins practiced on Monday. He was held out of practice late in the week last week for purely precautionary reasons and is tracking to play in the game.
