The Kansas City Chiefs have lost the first free agent from their Super Bowl LIV team and it just so happens to be the man who put the game on ice.
Chiefs CB Kendall Fuller has agreed to terms to return to the Washington Redskins according to multiple reports. Fuller came to Kansas City from Washington as a part of the trade for Chiefs QB Alex Smith in 2018. He’s been a staple of the Chiefs’ defense over the past two seasons, playing all over the defensive secondary.
His versatility makes him a valuable asset for any team and made him an intriguing option for Washington under the guidance of new head coach Ron Rivera.
Fuller’s contract with the Redskins will be a four-year deal worth roughly $40 million according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Chiefs did have some interest in bringing Fuller back but they would have needed a discount from him. That’s hardly a number that Kansas City could match in free agency as they’re currently tight against the salary cap.
During his career with the Chiefs, Fuller started 19 games for the team. He recorded two interceptions, 16 passes defended, one sack and 131 total tackles during the regular season. His postseason play was also quite impressive.

Keep in mind that Fuller can’t officially sign with the Redskins until Wednesday when the free agency period actually opens.
