Chiefs CB Joshua Williams feels Kansas City’s receivers are some ‘slept-on dudes’

The growth and development of the Kansas City Chiefs secondary has been a hot topic in training camp, with many of their 2022 rookies returning with championship experience. The younger players are now expected to step into starting roles and see increased playing time as the franchise prepares for another run at a Super Bowl title.

The Chiefs are excited to see what Joshua Williams will provide in his second season, as he’s already gained attention for his clutch plays during the postseason. Williams has been battling with Kansas City’s receiving corp in workouts and spoke with reporters on Sunday about his impressions of the young group.

“I think all of the receivers, like, as a whole, they’re a great group,” Williams explained. “There’s a lot of talented guys. A lot of slept-on dudes, and you can see it, you know, in our seminar sessions, one on ones, they’re skillful, like, everybody has their own little, you know, craft, everybody has their own gift that they’re good at, and they’re working. They’re making us better; we’re making them better. And I’m really excited to see what they can do this season.”

Williams made sure to express his early thoughts on rookie receiver Rashee Rice as he continues to build momentum in his first camp.

“Rashee [Rice] is going to be a great player.” said Williams, “You see, he’s great at attacking the ball. He’s been moving real quick this camp and I can’t wait to see what he do out there on the field.”
