Brian Waters to join Chiefs Ring of Honor

At their season-ticket holder draft party today, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that former guard Brian Waters will be inducted into the Ring of Honor next season.

In the early 2000s, Waters was part of one of the greatest offensive lines the Chiefs have ever had, which also included Will Shields and Willie Roaf. Waters was a former college defensive lineman who made the transition to guard.

Waters spent 11 seasons with the Chiefs (2000-2010). During that time he earned two All-Pro selections and five Pro Bowl appearances.

Kansas City Star reporter Brooke Pryor caught a portion of Waters’ speech from the draft party. Here is what Waters had to say:

“I’d like to thank my family and all of my friends. If there is one place that I would definitely want to be recognized and given this honor [it’d be Kansas City]. This is the greatest accomplishment in my career, and I appreciate being able to share this which each and every last one of you.”

Waters will join several of his teammates from the early 2000s in the Ring of Honor: Shields, Tony Gonzalez, Priest Holmes and Tony Richardson.
