Chiefs announce 6 players from 10-man practice squad for 2019

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially announced six players from their 10-man practice squad for the 2019 season.

Keep in mind that players can be released or elevated from the practice squad at any given time. The list of players on the practice squad to start the season and end the season are rarely if ever the same.

Here’s a look at the players that will begin the 2019 season on the practice squad:
  • TE Nick Keizer
  • WR Cody Thompson
  • WR Jody Fortson
  • C Jimmy Murray
  • QB Kyle Shurmur
  • RB Marcus Marshall

The top observation here is that each player is on the offensive side of the ball, where the team is already stacked. So you’d have to expect that there are some defensive additions on the way for Kansas City.

Another observation is that several fan favorites including Keizer, Thompson, Fortson and Shurmur returned to the team. It seems that the Chiefs Kingdom has a good eye for talent.

Shurmur beat out Chase Litton for the practice squad. This was expected given how the preseason went. Litton’s probably finished in Kansas City after this move.

Expect more additions to the practice squad in the coming days as the Chiefs bring players in for workouts and more.
