After much deliberation and discussion between the NFL, NFLPA and individual teams, the league decided that teams could go away for training camp and that fans could attend training camp. This comes following an altered approach to training camp in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league left the decision for 2021 in the hands of the teams, and the Kansas City Chiefs have decided to get back to a sense of normalcy.
On Wednesday, the Chiefs officially announced their return to St. Joseph, Missouri and the Missouri Western State University campus. Prior to last season, the Chiefs had spent 10 consecutive seasons going away for training camp. The Chiefs’ top brass including Clark Hunt, Andy Reid and Brett Veach all have commented that the experience of traveling away for training camp is vital for the team.
Training camp is set to begin on Wednesday, July 28 and run through Wednesday, Aug. 18. Things will be a little different this season, though. Fans will have to reserve tickets for practice in advance through the Chiefs Kingdom Rewards program at www.chiefskingdomrewards.com. You can begin at 10:00 a.m. CT on Wednesday, July 7. Fans will be permitted to reserve a maximum of four tickets per practice and can reserve tickets for up to three separate practices through the Chiefs Kingdom Rewards program.
