Chiefs reach deal to acquire DE Frank Clark from Seahawks

Trade talks between the Chiefs and Seahawks for defensive end Frank Clark quickly intensified.

On Monday, a report placed the Chiefs in preliminary talks to acquire Clark from the Seahawks. A day later, the Seahawks and Chiefs have agreed to a trade that will send Clark to the Chiefs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Others confirmed the Chiefs will send pick No. 29 in the 2019 NFL draft, a future second-round pick in 2020 and a third-round pick swap in 2019 to get the trade done. This means the Chiefs still hold on to the Nos. 61 and 63 picks in this week’s draft.

Now that a trade has been agreed to, the next big thing for the Chiefs is signing Clark to a contract extension.

An extension for Clark will likely look similar to the deal that defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence signed with the Cowboys this offseason. That was a five-year deal worth a total of $105 million with $65 million in guaranteed money.  We’ll have official updates on a contract extension as soon as the details are announced.
