Chicago rapper Chief Keef revealed he’s in the hospital, via an Instagram story Tuesday.
Keef, whose real name is Keith Farrelle Cozart, posted a photo of himself hospitalized with an IV in his arm.
The reason for Keef’s hospitalization is unknown, according to several media outlets. Fans have taken to multiple social media platforms to wish the South Side native well.
Last month, Keef posted an Instagram photo of his swollen ankle with the caption, “Pimp in distress.” In November 2020, Keef announced his collaboration with producer Mike WiLL Made-It — known for curating hits for Meek Mill, Miley Cyrus, and Juicy J — for the song “Bang Bang.” In an interview with Complex, Keef said the album with Mike WILL Made-It is scheduled for an early 2021 release.
Despite breaking out on the music scene as a teenager, Keef, now 25, has a major influence on Chicago’s rap scene, paving the way for artists G Herbo, Lil Durk, Lil Bibby, Katie Got Bandz and Sacha Go Hard, among many others.
Keef, who is viewed as a luminary in Chicago’s drill scene, is known for hit singles “I Don’t Like,” “Faneto,” “Love Sosa” and “Bean (Kobe)” which peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard music chart last year. “Finally Rich,” his debut studio album, despite disappointing sales, is an RIAA-certified gold album. The album features appearances from French Montana, Young Jeezy, 50 Cent, and Rick Ross.
The 25-year-old Keef relocated to California several years ago.
