Chiedozie Ogbene an injury concern for Stephen Kenny ahead of upcoming qualifiers

Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny has been dealt a fresh injury blow with the news that Rotherham winger Chiedozie Ogbene will likely miss out on September's triple-header of fixtures with a hamstring injury.

Ogbene sustained the injury in last weekend's Championship game against Sheffield United, with The Millers' boss Paul Warne voicing his concerns for the winger and forecasting a spell on the sidelines.

He said: "He thought he could run it off but I'm anxious that I don’t want him out for four months like the last time.

"I don’t think he’s going to be right for a couple of weeks."

Ogbene had spells with Cork City and Limerick before making the move to England to join Championship club Brentford in 2018.

Now established with Rotherham having made 40 appearances for the club, he is firmly knocking on the door of the international scene after making an impressive debut off the bench against Hungary in June earlier this summer in a friendly clash.
