Chicken Kiev cooking hack using bread will change the way you eat them forever

Chicken Kiev is such a simple and satisfying meal - but there always seems to be one down side.

The dish consists of a chicken breast stuffed with a melt-in-the-middle filling - often garlic butter - that oozes out when you cut into it.

But we've all experienced the pain of taking it out of the oven to find much of the sauce from the inside managed to escape to be left wasted on the bottom of the cooking tray.

Thankfully, a few home cooks have now shared a way to turn that heartbreaking loss into the perfect side dish to accompany the meal - and all you need is a slice of bread.

TikTok users have been sharing videos in which they place a chicken Kiev on top of the slice of bread when it goes into the oven, which soaks up any leaking garlic butter to leave you with a perfect slice of crispy garlic bread.

It includes one video by @Jack_mann, with the end result showing the bread left golden around the edges and the middle soaked in garlic butter goodness.

@_Miss_c_ then took the trend a step further, adding a layer of cheese between the Kiev and bread to leave viewers drooling at the results.

The clips have racked up thousands of views as people branded the simple trick 'genius', as one wrote: "This is so clever."

A second wrote: "Actually tried this last night... good shout!! Even added cheese to the bread. DELISH."

The tip was also posted on Facebook a couple of years ago, as one woman wrote: "Next time you make chicken kievs, put a piece of bread underneath them so it soaks up all that juicy garlic butter and you get a nice slice of garlic bread to go with it..."

And while many praised the idea, one person came forward to give advice on how to stop a Kiev leaking if you've haven't got bread to mop it up, replying: "If you put them in upside down the butter doesn’t leak out."
