Chicagoan gets dumped again on 'The Bachelorette' finale

July 28--For two seasons, Chicago software sales executive Nick Viall has competed to win the heart of "The Bachelorette." Both times, he got dumped during the show's finale.

Kaitlyn Bristowe chose Nashville personal trainer Shawn Booth over Viall, 34, in Monday's episode. Booth proposed to Bristowe, 30, and she accepted his ring after breaking the news to Viall.

"I am the world's biggest joke," Viall said as he left the show. Viall was runner-up last season on "The Bachelorette" when Andi Dorfman chose Josh Murray over him. He joined Bristowe's cast of suitors mid-season after chatting with her on social media.

Things looked good for Viall early in Monday's finale. He won over Bristowe's parents when he met them and he gave Bristowe a framed picture of their first one-on-one date.

But then Viall was shown getting out of the limo before Booth, a sign that Viall was not going to be the last man standing.

He approached Bristowe and told her how much he has appreciated the time they spent together.

"I'm not ready to let you go and I'm not ready to let us go because I am in love with you," Viall said.

Bristowe had trouble keeping composure as he spoke. "Oh my god" she repeated as she cried.

"The only single explanation that I have is that my heart is just with somebody else," Bristowe said.

Viall cut her short and he left the show angry. He threw a ring that he had picked out with Bristowe on an Ireland trip earlier in the season onto the floor of the car he rode in.

"I just don't know what to think right now. I just feel sick," Viall said.

Viall got the opportunity to confront Booth, whom he clashed with all season, and Bristowe in a live show after the finale. Bristowe said she wished she could have let Viall down better during the finale.

"I was just kind of wondering, what were you thinking?," Viall asked.

"At the end of the day, no love that I had was as strong as my love for Shawn," Bristowe said.

Viall was the last of four Chicago-area suitors eliminated by Bristowe. South Loop exotic dancer Josh Seiter, Batavia native Clint Arlis and Naperville fitness trainer Justin Reich got the boot earlier in the season.

Reich will appear on Season 2 of "Bachelor in Paradise," a matchmaking show for "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" cast-offs that premieres Sunday. Chicago-area fitness trainer Mikey Tenerelli, who was eliminated during Season 9 of "The Bachelorette," will also be on "Bachelor in Paradise."
