Chicago woman throws large McDonald’s cup of water on woman and her dog. Now people are applauding her: ‘What I wouldn’t give to see footage of this’

A Chicago-based content creator, Tessa (@tessa420), witnessed a climactic situation in a coffee shop where a bad dog mom had a cup of water thrown on her and her dog. The worst part? According to Tessa, the woman did everything she could to deserve it.

“ I think she deserved it. I’m not gonna lie to you,” Tessa told her viewers in a video posted Dec. 16. Since then, the video has garnered 3.9 million views, with many viewers asking what happened after the exchange. So what exactly did the woman do to deserve a torrential downpour before 8 a.m. during one of Chicago’s busiest months?

A sticky situation due to an untrained dog

In Tessa’s video, she describes an already awkward situation involving a “bad dog mom” who brought her very obviously untrained golden retriever inside a local spot. The dog reportedly had a non-retractable leash, giving it relatively free range inside the coffee shop.

As a result, the dog was jumping on everything, including tables, chairs, and eventually nine full drink orders that spilled across the floor.

“ That’s [an] [expletive] lot. Everybody in the store immediately [went] ‘Ugh.’ It was a unified groan,” Tessa said. According to her, however, the woman quickly began making excuses for the dog’s behavior.

“’Oh, my rambunctious little boy, he is just so silly this morning, honey. Now all these people have to wait longer. Why would you do that now?’” Tessa said while mocking the woman’s general tone and demeanor.

She then asked, “Why would you do that, ma’am? Why would you bring a golden [expletive] retriever without training on a 10 foot long leash on a weekday before 8:00 AM in a coffee shop?” she said. “This is all your [expletive] fault.”

Bad dog mom makes it worse

The woman ordered and sat down with her dog. At that point, baristas were remaking an order of three lattes for a woman holding a cup of water from McDonald’s. Then, preventable chaos struck again.

“ As the barista sets down the three lattes, the dog jumps on the counter, knocks over the three lattes, and without missing a beat in milliseconds, the woman rips the lid off of her [expletive] McDonald’s cup and tosses it all over [bad dog mom],” Tessa said.

The woman reportedly said, “I can’t believe you would do that!” According to Tessa, a barista from afar yelled, “Yeah, I can’t believe you would bring a golden retriever in here on a weekday on a ten-foot long leash, but here we are,” at her.

Eventually, the woman left the coffee shop drenched from head to toe with roughly 32 ounces of water, a scene Tessa described as resembling “Niagara Falls.”

Why are dogs OK in food service areas to begin with?

There was one question that a majority of commenters addressed. That is, “why are dogs suddenly ‘OK’ in restaurants or other public spaces?”

Dogs aren’t allowed to enter food businesses legally in Chicago. However, there have been recent attempts to make businesses more dog-friendly. One alderman, Timmy Knudsen, introduced an ordinance that would allow for dogs to come inside businesses “at the owner’s discretion.”

The ordinance, however, has not passed or become official policy. So, dogs aren’t actually allowed in any food establishments in the Chicago area. That hasn’t stopped people from bringing their dogs everywhere with them. Even though animals are generally not allowed inside food establishments due to food safety concerns, people continue bringing them everywhere. It’s become a rampant issue in cities like San Francisco, where owners blatantly disregard the policies to bring their animals into their homes.

But it’s frustrated many people like Tessa, who believe the animals shouldn’t be inside these establishments. “Dog owner here- DOGS DO NOT BELONG WHERE FOOD IS SERVED!” said one commenter on Tessa’s post.

Other people chimed in with their thoughts. “Literally had a dog run INTO MY KITCHEN at work the other morning. We have another customer who brings all SIX of their little dogs in, while they bark at every human and try to fight every dog,” added another commenter. “I love animals, but some of you humans really have ZERO consideration or thought.”

Many advocated that service dogs were fine. However, they wanted other people to be a bit more mindful of their dogs when bringing them out in public spaces.
