Chicago Woman Sentenced To 50 Years For Gruesome Murder

Suburbs put the brakes on migrant bus arrivals after crackdowns in Chicago and New York

A Chicago woman has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the heinous murder of a 19-year-old pregnant woman in 2019. Clarisa Figueroa changed her plea to guilty of first-degree murder, admitting to the crime that shocked the nation.

The tragic incident occurred when Figueroa, along with her daughter Desiree Figueroa, lured Marlen Ochoa-Lopez into their home under the guise of offering free baby clothes. Figueroa, who had been desperate for a newborn after her adult son's death, orchestrated an elaborate plot to cut the baby from Ochoa-Lopez's womb.

Authorities revealed that Figueroa had deceived Ochoa-Lopez by pretending to be pregnant herself and posting misleading information on social media. The mother-daughter duo then carried out the gruesome act, resulting in the death of Ochoa-Lopez and the baby being taken from her womb.

Desiree Figueroa, who assisted her mother in the murder, agreed to testify against her and received a 30-year prison sentence. Clarisa Figueroa, facing a 50-year term, acknowledged that she would serve the full sentence without the possibility of early release.

The case took a chilling turn when the baby, Yovanny Jadiel Lopez, born from the tragic incident, passed away months later. DNA testing confirmed the baby's true parentage, revealing the heartbreaking truth to the family.

In a shocking twist, Clarisa Figueroa's boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, was also implicated in the crime for his role in cleaning up the crime scene. Bobak pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and served a four-year prison sentence before being released on parole.

The sentencing of Clarisa Figueroa and her daughter Desiree Figueroa brings a sense of closure to the devastating case that shook the community and highlighted the depths of human depravity.
