Aug. 13--The summer's hottest weather so far is forecast to hit Chicago this weekend.

Temperatures are expected to climb to 93 degrees Sunday, topping readings of 92 degrees recorded June 10 and July 17.

Moderately lower temperatures are expected Monday and Tuesday, but highs will still be in the 80s. Warming returns next Wednesday and continues beyond the current seven-day period.

This past Wednesday's high -- 81 degrees at O'Hare International Airport -- was Chicago's 27th continuous day in which the temperature reached at least 80 degrees.

The current seven-day forecast contains mention of temperatures well in excess of 80 degrees on each of the next seven days, potentially extending the streak of 80-degree days to 34.

But that's far from the record, which is 46 days recorded in 2010.
