Oct. 27--The summary
The Blackhawks ended their two-game losing streak with a crisp 2-1 victory over the Senators on Sunday night at the United Center. Jonathan Toews scored on a wraparound and Brent Seabrook beat Ottawa's Craig Anderson on a slap shot from just inside the blue line. Seabrook's first goal of the season came on a power play.
In the nets
Making his first NHL appearance, Lemont native Scott Darling sparkled, stopping 32 shots. The goal he allowed was on a 2-on-1. Anderson, of Park Ridge, turned away 43 of 45 shots.
Tribune's three stars
Darling -- Withstood a barrage early in the game; Toews -- Goal 21 seconds into second period broke the ice; Seabrook -- Used a screen from Bryan Bickell to perfection.
Access denied
Andrew Shaw attempted his first career penalty shot in the second period, and it was memorable for only one reason. Anderson denied Shaw's forehand attempt, and the puck ricocheted in the air. Shaw caught it and tossed it aside.
Nice try
Among the Senators' eight penalties was an infraction for too many men on the ice.
Got his number
With his second-period goal, Jonathan Toews, who wears No. 19, tied Troy Murray, another No. 19, for 19th all-time on the Hawks' scoring list with 446 points. It was his 197th goal.
Big number
500 Patrick Kane's assist on Toews' goal gave him 500 career points.
Good cause
The Hawks wore purple jerseys in warm-ups Sunday for Hockey Fights Cancer Night. They will be auctioned off at chicagoblackhawks.com to raise money for cancer charities.
