Chicago Tribune Teddy Greenstein column

Nov. 29--Last week I declared I was "fading" my picks, selecting the opposite of what I thought would transpire in hopes of ending a nasty slump.

So what happened? You could have predicted this. I went 2-5 in my published picks, meaning I would have thrived had I not gone opposite. Now that I've totally confused you, let's move on to the final full slate:

Michigan (plus 20.5) at Ohio State: Two things I know: Brady Hoke is a nice fellow. Brady Hoke won't enjoy his Saturday afternoon. Take the Buckeyes.

Illinois (plus 8) at Northwestern: The betting public has THAT much confidence in Zack Oliver and Matt Alviti? Interesting. I'll go with Tim Beckman the points.

Purdue (plus 3) at Indiana: The Old Oaken Bucket, awarded to the winner, is like: Why do I have to be associated with teams that are a combined 1-13 in Big Ten play? Take the Hoosiers for no other reason than tailback Tevin Coleman.

Minnesota (plus 15) at Wisconsin: Soooooo many points for a solid Gophers team, but because of David Cobb's sore hammy, the Badgers could win big.

Michigan State (minus 13.5) at Penn State: They'll play for the Land Grant Trophy, which Spartans AD Mark Hollis told PennLive.com "looks like a bunch of bowling trophies put together." Take the Spartans.

Rutgers (plus 8) at Maryland: Who wants to play in a warm-weather bowl? I figure turtles like the tropics, so go with the Terrapins.

Last week: 2-5. Season: 35-55-2.
