March 16--Vladimir Putin has resurfaced after more than a week out of public view. Clearly he and the rest of the NCAA tournament selection committee takes its work very seriously.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, Quicken Loans and Yahoo will not be dangling a $1 billion prize for a perfect NCAA men's basketball tournament bracket. If you want to be a billionaire, you're just going to have to do it the old fashioned way. Or white-collar crime.

Police discovered and dismantled an active meth lab in the men's restroom of a Wal-Mart in Muncie, Ind. So if you're throwing a party in Muncie, just know the Wal-Mart is out of ice.

There's a proposal on Capitol Hill that keeps members of Congress from using taxpayer funds for first-class plane tickets. They should travel the way they legislate: slowly, bogged down by baggage and unconcerned with reaching the stated destination.

A weekend argument over beers in a Louisiana parking lot that began when a man asked for Budweiser and got a can of Busch ended with the Bud man wounding his longtime pal in the arm, claiming self-defense. Which proves a Busch in the hand is worth a beer and a shot.

If this were a fight over craft beers, it's a safe bet the shotgun pellets would be locally sourced.

Tuesday marks the 65th anniversary of University of California at Berkeley researchers announcing the creation of element 98, which they dubbed californium. It's tempting to make a crack about its lack of stability, but just imagine how radioactive illinoisium would be.
