Chicago Tribune Nina Metz column

June 09--Director David Lynch is probably best known for his 1990s TV series "Twin Peaks" and his 1986 film "Blue Velvet," the latter of which screens this weekend courtesy of the Music Box Theatre and the pop culture website Consequence of Sound.

In an usual step, the movie theater is transforming its lounge into a Lynchian playground of sorts (filled with art work, food and drinks that channel his neo-noir surrealist worldview) complete with performers dressed as characters from his most famous movies.

This is a good moment for a Lynchian revival, with the director back on board the "Twin Peaks" revival that is in development at Showtime.

The movie screens midnight Saturday. For information go to the Music Box Theatre or Consequence of Sound website.
