Chicago Tribune Nina Metz column

Aug. 21--Shonda Rhimes and her production company Shondaland are expanding into comedies with "Splitsville," which is being developed at ABC.

Created by Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins (the duo behind the short-lived but slyly funny sitcom "Trophy Wife"), the show will center on divorced suburban neighbors who band together as single parents and help look out for one another's kids.

Like Rhimes, Haskins is a Chicago native. She sharpened her comedy chops for a number of years at iO Theater and was part of Second City's touring company.

As with all shows in development, there is no guarantee ABC will ultimately put it on the schedule.
