Aug. 03--The Hollywood Reporter has published its annual list of film school rankings, with two Chicago institutions making the cut. That's down from three last year.

Both Columbia College Chicago and Northwestern University were among the 25 schools listed, although neither cracked the top 15.

Columbia College (which is the largest film school in the U.S.) came in at No. 16 and counts among its alumni producer Robert Teitel (known for the "Barbershop" franchise") who was in town last month filming "Southside With You," an independent feature about Barack and Michelle Obama's first date in 1989.

Northwestern (which just launched a documentary program) ranked at No. 23 on the list, and its famous alumni tend to come from its theater school, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Stephen Colbert.

Top schools on the Hollywood Reporter's ranking include USC, New York University, American Film Institute and UCLA.

DePaul University's School of Cinematic Arts, ranked at No. 17 last year, was absent from the list this year. Tribeca Flaspoint Media Arts Academy was also not on the list.
