April 20--NEW YORK -- Stephen Adly Guirgis' "Between Riverside and Crazy" is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize in drama for 2015, it was announced today at Columbia University.

Guirgis' dark comedy, which debuted at the Atlantic Theater Company in New York, tells the story of a retired police officer known as Pops who is faced with eviction. The play has been announced as part of Steppenwolf Theatre Company's 2015-16 season.

Finalists for the award were "Marjorie Prime" by Jordan Harrison and "Father Comes Home From the Wars (Parts 1, 2, 3)" by Suzan-Lori Parks.

Aside from the prestige, the Pulitzer Prize for drama comes with a $10,000 check. Last year's winner was Annie Baker for her play "The Flick."
