Chicago Tribune Chris Jones column

Jan. 06--A multi-media, concert-style show designed to celebrate the movies of the late John Hughes -- including such nostalgic titles as "Sixteen Candles," "The Breakfast Club," "Weird Science," "Pretty in Pink," "Some Kind of Wonderful" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" -- is headed to Chicago in March.

Rumer Willis, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, is in the cast. Titled "For the Record: Dear John Hughes," the show is based around the songs featured in Hughes movies, such as "Don't You Forget About Me," "We Are Not Alone," " If You Leave," "Pretty in Pink," " If You Were Here," and "True." The cast will also feature Chicago natives Patrick Mulvey (who was in "Billy Elliot") and Jackie Seiden, as well as Ruby Lewis, Joanna Jones, James Byous, Payson Lewis and Ciaran McCarthy.

According to promotional materials, the performers will both sing the music and "embody" the famous movie characters. The show is from Los Angeles. Its creators, Shane Scheel, Christopher Lloyd Bratten and Anderson Davis, have had success with other "For the Record" shows in Los Angeles, each dealing with a different movie director and focused on a generation younger than the typical cabaret audience.

The Chicago dates are March 5-15 at the Broadway Playhouse, 175 E. Chestnut St. Tickets are on sale Wednesday.
