May 20--Chicago leads in Midwest hiring demand so far this year, with the top industries being healthcare, transportation and engineering, according to a new report.
An analysis of hiring demand trends in the Midwest's major metro areas by ZipRecruiter found the Chicago region rated highest so far in 2015, followed by Detroit and Minneapolis.
And for April alone, Chicago was No. 1 in the nation for hiring demand, followed by Los Angeles, Dallas, New York and Houston.
The recruiting firm found Chicago's most in-demand job in the most in-demand industry, healthcare, was prosthodontist, a dental specialty in restoring and replacing teeth. Class A commercial drivers license driver was the top job in the second-hottest field, trucking and transportation. Project engineer was the top engineering job, while senior Java developer was the top IT job. Ranking as the fifth most-in-demand field was marketing and public relations, with account executive being most sought-after.
Other top 10 hot metro areas for hiring in the Midwest were Indianapolis, St. Louis, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Kansas City, Mo.; Des Moines, Iowa; Milwaukee and La Crosse, Wis.
Elsewhere in Illinois, Peoria ranked No. 12; Bloomington-Normal, No. 15; and Rockford, No. 16, on the list of 20 hottest hiring markets in the Midwest.
