Chicago to host 2020 NBA All-Star Game

A 32-year hiatus will end in 2020 when the Bulls host the NBA All-Star game.

Two sources familiar with Friday's announcement confirmed that the United Center will indeed play host to the NBA's biggest party, something that team Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf vowed for years wouldn't happen again after the 1988 event took place at Chicago Stadium.

Reinsdorf long voiced his displeasure at the event displacing season-ticket holders. But the franchise's strong relationship with Mayor Rahm Emanuel and seeing the benefits it will provide for the city of Chicago helped the change of heart.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, team president Michael Reinsdorf, Emanuel and executive vice president John Paxson will attend Friday's 2 p.m. announcement.
