Sun-Times Media Group, the newspaper publisher formerly known as Hollinger International Inc., has announced that Gordon Paris is stepping down as chief executive. Paris took over from Conrad Black in November 2003 amid the turmoil following the discovery that huge payments had been made without board authorisation. Hollinger then sold off the Telegraph group to the Barclay brothers, but retained the Chicago Sun-Times, other papers in north America and the Jerusalem Post. Paris's decision to give up the ceo position is evidently related to the company's decision to shift its New York-based corporate functions to Chicago. Black is awaiting trial on fraud charges.
