Chicago’s Gavin Sheets made a Twins announcer look really silly with his game-winning homer

Baseball is a fun game in which you can look really bad in one at bat and then look really good in another at bat.

That happened last night to Chicago White Sox first baseman Gavin Sheets when he struck out swinging against Minnesota pitcher Jose Berrios in the fifth inning of their seven-inning doubleheader game.

Things then got funny as the Twins’ announcer had this to say about Sheets’ strikeout:

“That’s gonna be the ever-lasting memory of Gavin Sheets against Berrios, at least tonight. He’s probably been told, “Yeah, the guy throws mid-90s, has a wipeout slider” and Sheets is going to toss and turn tonight thinking about his changeup.”

Well, you know what happened in Sheets’ next at bat against Berrios? He hit a walk-off homer.

Check out this sequence. The top video is the initial strikeout and the second video has the strikeout, followed by the home run with the Curb Your Enthusiasm music.

Yeah, I’m guessing Sheets slept well last night.

Twitter had reactions.
