Chicago rapper King Von was killed in a shooting outside a club in Atlanta on Nov. 6.

The shooting happened after the 26-year-old’s album release party for “Welcome to O’Block,” a nod to the area around 64th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on the South Side where he was raised.

In the early morning hours that Friday, an argument between two groups of men “escalated to gunfire” outside Monaco Hookah Lounge. King Von, whose real name is Dayvon Bennett, was taken to an area hospital, where he died.

A Savannah man, 22-year-old Timothy Leeks, was charged with King Von’s murder.

King Von had a loyal and robust social media following of 2.5 million Instagram followers and 292,500 Twitter followers, while on the verge of breakout success.

“He was a devoted father, a deeply loyal friend and a man who took care of his people before himself,” publicist Erin Ryan said in a written statement. “We are heartbroken for his family, his friends, his team, and his fans. Long live King Von.”
