CHICAGO _ Authorities on Thursday announced the arrest of a suspect in the early Monday shooting that left one dead and two others wounded in a pedestrian tunnel that connects the Red and Blue line Jackson stop in Chicago.
Members of the joint Great Lakes regional fugitive task force, made up of Chicago police and U.S. Marshals Service officers arrested the suspect, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a tweet. The tweet said the arrest occurred in Oak Brook, but authorities later corrected the information to say the arrest took place in Oak Park.
Federal agents used a Taser on the suspect and placed him into custody, Guglielmi said in the tweet.
Criminal charges were pending against the 23-year-old suspect, police said.
Interim police Superintendent Charlie Beck is expected to release details after a Police Board meeting at the Public Safety Headquarters in Bronzeville.
The attack happened just after 2 a.m. Monday. One man was shot in the abdomen and chest, and died at the scene on South Dearborn Street.
Killed was Edward Charleston, 24, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. A second man was shot in the head and the arm, while a 19-year-old woman was shot in the lower back.
