A Chicago police officer injured his leg during a foot chase Thursday in the Gold Coast.

The officer was chasing a 17-year-old boy at 4:46 a.m. when he suffered the leg injury in the first block of East Chicago Avenue, according to Chicago police. The officer was taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Police said the teen was taken into custody for questioning about an “incident” on the sidewalk in the area, but did not elaborate on the incident or say what prompted the chase.
