Backyard gardens across Chicago will look a bit more professional this summer.
The Chicago Park District plans to hold a flower sale at Garfield Park Conservatory from Thursday through Sunday (May 28-31).
With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic preventing the Park District from hiring “the seasonal staff and contractors that would normally plant and care for these flowers in the summer,” per the Park District’s website, the district faces a surplus of flowers.
Those plants — ranging from alternanthera to zinnia zahara, begonia to setcreacea — are therefore available to the general public. Some types are already sold out, but many still are availability.
Flowers must be ordered online for contactless curbside delivery, and orders can be placed online now at this link.
The sale is a collaboration of the Chicago Park District and the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance, which — during typical, virus-free times — runs programming at the acclaimed conservatory.
