I’ve listened to a lot of stupidity from the outdoors crowd over the last week or so.
So I found it very refreshing to have a back-and-forth discussion on Tuesday with Frank Juzwik, owner of Lake Michigan Angler in Winthrop Harbor, on what to do about his scheduled seminars for Saturday.
He wasn’t ranting and raving about the coronavirus being a hoax, instead he understood the country and the state are in an unprecedented crisis. Then he worked from that reality, the way any sensible business owner, or any sensible person, should.
Here’s the deal.
His planned free seminars on “Lake Michigan Salmon and Trout Trolling” will go on Saturday (as of this morning). Whatever the current guidelines are on crowds from the authorities or the Centers for Disease Control on Saturday morning will determine how many are in attendance. As of now, I believe that means 10 max and those doing the usual recommended social distancing.
He experimented with livestreaming the event on Facebook to make sure it will work. So the store will open at 8 a.m. and he will go with the planned bucket sale that day. Then Rob Civinelli will present at 9 a.m. in front of whatever gathering is allowed. Capt. Jerry Costabile will follow at 10:30 a.m. Their presentations will be livestreamed at facebook.com/LakeMichiganAngler/.
