Chicago man killed in Hazel Crest shooting

A man from Chicago died three days after he was shot in south suburban Hazel Crest.

Walter Lee, 42, was shot in the head about 2:20 a.m. June 22 at 167th and Wood streets, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Lee, who lived in the Douglas community area on the South Side, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

An autopsy released Friday ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Hazel Crest police have not replied to a request for comment.
