A Chicago man was charged Tuesday in connection with an attempted bank robbery in west suburban Downers Grove.
Simeon Harris, 35, of Douglas, was charged with one felony count of attempted robbery as well as a felony count of burglary, the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office said. He is currently on probation for a federal bank robbery.

Police allege that about 5:40 p.m. Monday, Harris entered the West Suburban Bank, 5330 Main St., and passed a note to the teller announcing a robbery. Once the teller told him she was unable to open the drawer and could not give him any money, Harris snatched the note back and walked out out of the bank.
Officers found Harris outside the bank, and after a short foot chase, he was taken into custody, officials said.
Harris appeared in DuPage County bond court Tuesday, where Judge George Bakalis set his bond at $100,000, officials said. He is due back in court Dec. 20.
