Chicago lakefront fishing: Parking passes for fisherman’s lots at Burnham and DuSable to go on sale

A photo from last summer of Burnham Harbor, one of the two harbors that have small fisherman’s parking lots. | Dale Bowman

Staff from the Chicago Park District delivered the parking passes for the fisherman’s lots at Burnham and DuSable harbors today to Henry’s Sports and Bait in Bridgeport and to Park Bait at Montrose Harbor.

Henry’s will start sales tomorrow, Park Bait should start later today.

The $10 passes, good for 60 days, allow legal parking at the small fisherman’s lots at DuSable and Burnham harbors. Sale of the passes have been on hold since the pandemic restrictions came nearly a year ago.

A word to the wise, there have been a number of anglers who have been illegally parking in the fisherman’s lots since the lakefront reopened, now would be the time to stop doing that.

Those two small fisherman’s lots were a hard-earned gain for lakefront anglers, and much the envy of other lakefront user groups. That’s another word to the wise. The two small lots are in areas where public parking is at a premium, to put it mildly.
