Aug. 20--South Loop fashion designer Tommy Walton put a bow on his time on "MasterChef."
Walton, 53, was eliminated from the cooking competition in Wednesday's episode after he made a sub-par party platter with partner Katrina Kozar.
Kozar, a Milwaukee administrative assistant, and Walton had clashed in previous competitions and the duo challenge was no different. They screamed at each other as they made pigs-in-a-blanket, sliders and tortilla chips in a tag-team format -- only one chef could be working at a time.
"Visually, it looks a mess," judge Gordon Ramsay said of their platter.
Kozar and Walton were paired together by California dishwasher salesman Nick Nappi after he won the episode's mystery box challenge, which tasked contestants to cook with coffee. Walton, who wore a large white bow during the challenge, made coffee beignets that seemed to impress the judges, but he did not make it into the top 3 of the remaining seven cooks.
Florida drummer Derrick Peltz and California gardener Stephen Lee won the party platter challenge while judges focused their criticism on Kozar and Walton.
"I'm trying to find something redeeming here," said Chicago judge Graham Elliot, who complained about the duo's raw shrimp and soggy tortilla chips.
In the end, Walton was eliminated. He was the last of three Chicago chefs who started the competition this season.
"I think we'll remember you forever," Ramsay said.
"MasterChef" airs at 7 p.m., Wednesdays on Fox. The winner gets $250,000 and a cookbook deal.
