At least four people were killed and another 22 injured over the weekend in Chicago, according to local media reports.

Bloodshed in the city, which has struggled with gun violence for years, often worsens as the weather gets warmer.

The violence began on Friday morning, when Rashad A Abdullah was shot near South Talman Avenue, where he lived, near the city’s South Side and Chicago Lawn neighborhoods.

The same evening, six and a half miles south-east, two men were injured and a woman was killed when a gunman opened fire outside a house party. Nicole M Towns, 19, died of her injuries.

About six miles north, 18-year-old Javante Linson was found shot dead in McKinley Park on Saturday. A 20-year-old basketball player, Tim Triplett, was found five miles north with multiple gunshot wounds, according to reports from Fox32.

Among the wounded were adolescents. A 13-year-old and a 15-year-old were wounded outside Humboldt Park, just two and a half miles north of McKinley Park. The 13-year-old was shot in the knee, and the 15-year-old was shot in the buttocks by unknown assailants.

A 14-year-old was shot in the ankle nine miles south of Humboldt Park, in the city’s Gage Park neighborhood. The shooting took place on Sunday evening, about 7.30pm, according to the Chicago Tribune. The teen is reportedly in good condition.
