Chicago Flower and Garden Show canceled at Navy Pier

The venerable Chicago Flower and Garden Show, a harbinger of spring dating back more than a century, has been canceled this year in response to the coronavirus threat.

“The city’s health officials are encouraging people to avoid large groups at indoor events,” organizers wrote on the show’s website. “We cannot ignore the advice of the city leaders or the global health community. It would be irresponsible and dangerous. The risk to our most vulnerable populations is real.”

The show was to run March 18-22 at Navy Pier.
