Chicago farmers markets announced for 2016

April 07--Thursday morning's snow probably did not have you thinking about shopping at Chicago's farmers markets, but the season is less than a month away. Thursday's announcement by the city on the opening dates for its markets makes that clear.

Daley Plaza Market begins May 12 -- it's usually the first Chicago-managed market to open, launching the city's season. Green City Market, the independently operated sustainable farmers market and always one of the area's first to open, starts its outdoor season earlier, on May 7 at its Lincoln Park location (with the Fulton Market location opening in June).

We will publish more market information for the city and suburbs as opening dates become available, but for now, here is the available information on market opening dates and hours for 2016.

Markets are listed by days of the week. Days are subject to change. For more information, call the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, 312-744-3316, or go to www.chicagofarmersmarkets.us.
