A Chicago police officer who was shot by a suspected bank robber in Irving Park last week has been released from the hospital and is continuing his recovery at home.
The officer, a 46-year-old man, was released from Illinois Masonic on Friday, according to Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. He was shot in the head Tuesday during a chaotic pursuit which also saw a 15-year-old boy wounded by a stray bullet, likely from a Des Plaines police officer.
Guglielmi confirmed that both were continuing their recovery in a tweet Sunday afternoon. He did not know whether the teen had been released from Lurie Children’s Hospital.
The alleged shooter, identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Christopher Terrell Willis, was shot and killed during the incident. His partner in the Des Plaines bank robbery that ignited the series of events was federally charged with bank robbery.
