Chicago competitive eater drinks 120 raw eggs on 'America's Got Talent'

July 08--Professional eater Pat Bertoletti had his "America's Got Talent" audition in the bag.

Bertoletti, a longtime competitive eater and the co-owner of Taco in a Bag in the Ravenswood neighborhood, drank 120 raw eggs in about 47 seconds in the episode that aired Tuesday night.

"When God was giving out talents, he ran out and he gave me that talent. That's my one talent in life," said Bertoletti, 30, who has won competitions eating date nut bread and cream cheese sandwiches, corned beef and cabbage and jalape񯠰eppers, among other foods.

Before he got started, the "America's Got Talent" judges helped him crack the 10 dozen eggs into blenders that he drank from.

"That is disgusting," judge Heidi Klum said as Bertoletti started chugging.

"I'm gonna throw up," judge Howard Stern said.

Nevertheless, the judges voted Bertoletti on to the next round of competition.

Other "America's Got Talent" contestants with Chicago-area ties this season include: South Side native Sharon Irving, who sang Hozier's "Take Me to Church;" Chicago dance duo Freckled Sky; South Side hypnotist Chris Jones; and bird whistler Susan Zwit-Frantzen, also known as "Byrdie Sue."

The winner receives $1 million. "America's Got Talent" airs Tuesdays on NBC at 7 p.m.
