TEAM NEEDS

Running Back
The Bears traded away Jordan Howard, replacing him with Mike Davis, and they still have the dynamic Tarik Cohen. However, there is still work to be done at the position. Nagy likes to run by committee in the backfield, and Davis’ role in the offense probably won’t be as big as Howard’s was last season. Look for Chicago to target a do-it-all back with receiving value who could serve as a reliable outside-zone runner.
Defensive Back
Eddie Jackson and Kyle Fuller are among the best defensive backs in the NFL, but the Bears could use some more help in the secondary. Adrian Amos and Bryce Callahan both left in free agency, and though Chicago replaced them with Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Buster Skrine, respectively, defensive back remains a need when compared to other positions on their roster. Clinton-Dix is a bit of an odd fit at strong safety – he specializes more as a free-roaming, single-high safety – and is only on a one-year contract, and Skrine is a notable downgrade at the nickelback position. Plus, cornerback Prince Amukamara turns 30 in June and will save the Bears $9.5 million if released after the 2019 season. Expect them to draft a defensive back or two to stock up for the future.
Kicker
Since they moved on from Robbie Gould in 2016, the Bears have had nothing but bad luck at the kicker position. With Cody Parkey off the team, they currently have two kickers: Redford Jones and Chris Blewitt. Both free agents have never taken a snap in the NFL and are relative unknowns, so don’t be surprised if the Bears take the aggressive approach and use one of their seventh-round picks on one of the draft’s top kicker prospects.
