Chicago area fitness trainer joins 'Bachelor in Paradise'

June 11--Chicago fitness trainer Mikey Tenerelli, who was eliminated on "The Bachelorette" in 2013, will be back for Round 2.

Tenerelli, 32, was one of 11 contestants ABC announced this week have joined the cast for the second season of "Bachelor in Paradise," a chance for former contestants of "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" to find love again, presumably in a hot tub.

The Glen Ellyn native, who graduated from North Central College in Naperville, failed to win the heart of Season 9 "Bachelorette" Desiree Hartsock. On the show, Tenerelli engaged in a controversial conversation with fellow contestant James Case, who lived in Chicago at the time, in which they said they would spend an upcoming summer in Chicago on a boat with beautiful girls with money.

Tenerelli owns Crossfit Alpha Dog in Lombard and lists Chicago as his home on his Twitter page.

"With his priorities in line this time and a fresh outlook on life and love, Mikey comes to Paradise vowing to make a more positive impression," ABC said in a press release.

The six-episode series, which is set in Mexico, is scheduled to premiere over two nights starting 7 p.m. Aug. 2.

The show will also include a "mystery woman" and four to-be-announced contestants from the current season of "The Bachelorette." Chicago exotic dancer Josh Seiter and Batavia native Clint Arlis have already been kicked off this season. Wisconsin native Nick Viall, who lives in Chicago, and Naperville fitness trainer Justin Reich are still in contention for Kaitlyn Bristowe's heart.
