June 16--He's baaaaaaack!
Chicago software sales executive Nick Viall officially returned to "The Bachelorette" in Monday's episode in the hopes of winning Kaitlyn Bristowe's heart.
Much of the focus of the two-hour episode was centered around Viall, a Wisconsin native who was runner-up in "Bachelorette" Andi Dorfman's season. Viall said he and Bristowe chatted on social media before she became the "Bachelorette" and he felt he had to meet her.
"I just happened to talk to a girl and start liking her," said Viall, 34.
But the other suitors weren't enthusiastic about Viall, who was viewed as a villain on Dorfman's season. Viall admitted he recently saw Dorfman, who split with season winner Josh Murray earlier this year, but that he views Bristowe, 29, as a "cool chick."
The cast seemed skeptical and some of the men questioned Bristowe's judgement and intent after she added Viall into the mix. Bristowe, too, seemed to have second thoughts. Viall was the last man to get a rose in the rose ceremony early in the episode.
"I feel nauseous," Bristowe said before awarding Viall the rose.
Viall did redeem himself later on. After the rose ceremony, Bristowe brought the remaining guys to San Antonio, Texas, where they went on individual dates and embarrassed themselves by writing and singing mariachi songs.
Viall pulled Bristowe aside to sing his tune on a rooftop, and later, the two kissed on a bench in the moonlight.
"I just have to trust my heart," Bristowe told Viall before giving him a rose at the end of the episode.
Viall is not the only Chicago-area suitor left this season. Naperville fitness trainer Justin Reich, 28, didn't get much screen time in Monday's episode but he did get a chance to express his doubts about Viall's return.
Bristowe previously eliminated Chicago exotic dancer Josh Seiter and Batavia native Clint Arlis.
Monday's show may left Chicago-area viewers wanting more drama. ABC's local weather team interrupted the episode multiple times to talk about tornado warnings in the area.
