The Archdiocese of Chicago announced a new round of consolidations Friday that will impact 19 Catholic parishes and schools next year.
In the Far South Side Hegewisch neighborhood, St. Columbia Parish and St. Florian Parish will combine with Mother of God Parish in south suburban Burnham as of April 13, according to the Archdiocese.
Near the Lincoln Square neighborhood on the North Side, St. Hilary will form a new parish with Transfiguration of Our Lord, while the Queen of Angels and St. Matthias parishes will also be combined by July 1, the Archdiocese said.
On the Northwest Side, St. Cornelius, St. Tarcissus and St. Thecla parishes will also be combine to form a new parish on July 1 with a new name. The designated church will be St. Tarcissus, the Archdiocese said. Thecla School and Pope Francis Global Academy’s North Campus will also combine to form a newly named parish school for the 2020–2021 school year.
The final city consolidation will include Assumption B.V.M., Our Lady of Tepeyac and St. Roman parishes on the South Side by July 1, according to the Archdiocese.
In southwest suburban Lemont, St. Alphonsus and St. Patrick parishes will combine, while St. James at Sag Bridge Parish will become a mission of Methodius Parish, the Archdiocese said.
