Chic and Belle & Sebastian Bristol gigs in Bristol are postponed

Two massive gigs that were due to take place on Bristol's harbourside this summer have been postponed.

Nile Rodgers & Chic were lined up to perform at the Lloyds Amphitheatre on July 14 and July 15, followed by Scottish indie outfit Belle & Sebastian the following night.

However Bristol Beacon, which is organising the three-night concert series, has today announced the gigs will now take place in 2022 instead.

Although large-scale events are due to return from June 21 as part of the Government's roadmap to exit lockdown, organisers said there is "little time" to guarantee the events could go ahead one month later.

Todd Wills, Bristol Beacon's artistic director, said: "We know that ticket holders and music fans are eager to return to live music events as soon as its safe, so we know that many will be disappointed that Nile Rodgers and Chic and Belle & Sebastian won’t be gracing the Bristol harbourside this summer.

"We want to ensure that these shows can go ahead exactly as intended, and with June 21 being the very earliest that large-scale events can take place according to the Government’s roadmap, there is little time to guarantee we can make this happen.

"We’ve been working with the artists to secure new dates for these events, and we are really happy that we can still bring these musical icons to Bristol next summer."

The shows were due to take place in the lead-up to Bristol Harbour Festival, which was also called off today.

Belle & Sebastian will now perform at the Amphitheatre on Wednesday, July 13 2022 while Nile Rodgers and Chic will take to the stage on July 14 and July 15.

Tickets for all three nights are available from the Bristol Beacon box office on 0117 203 4040 or, from Bristol Beacon's website.
