Chiaroscuro at the Bush Theatre: First look at pictures of Lynette Linton's inaugural production

The pictures of Lynette Linton’s first production as artistic director of the Bush Theatre have been released.

The gig theatre revival of Scottish National Poet Jackie Kay’s 1986 play Chiaroscuro opens on Friday, bringing live music and spoken word to the story about queer women of colour.

A four-strong cast includes Shiloh Coke, Preeya Kalidas, Anoushka Lucas and Gloria Onitiri. The play follows four women over the course of an evening. Aisha (Kalidas) is hosting a dinner party. Beth and Opal (Coke and Lucas) have recently begun a relationship, but things come to a head when Yomi (Onitiri) reveals what she thinks about their new romance.

With Linton at the helm, Coke is also musical director, with set design by Moi Tran, lighting by Jose Tevar, sound by Richard Hammarton and movement by Annie Lunette Deakin Foster.

Chiaroscuro will be the final production in the Bush Theatre’s Passing the Baton series, which aimed to reacquaint theatre goers with game-changing artists of colour, following revivals of Winsome Pinnock’s Leave Taking and Caryl Phillips’s Strange Fruit.

Chiaroscuro runs at the Bush Theatre until October 5, bushtheatre.co.uk
